Library Services and Resources


The UCSF Library and Center for Knowledge Management provides services and resources to support the research, teaching, and clinical missions of the University of California, San Francisco. The Library has physical space on the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses. Remote access to online resources, including journals, e-books, and databases, is available through GALEN, the digital library of UCSF.

Remote Access

Access to library resources such as journals and databases is available off-campuses by using vpn@ucsf.

1. Apply for and receive a VPN User ID
2. Open a supported browser and login at https://vpn.ucsf.edu/

Research Software Licensing

Research Software Licensing (RSL) offers annual licenses for research software, including SAS, SPSS, JMP, SUDAAN, and NVivo.

To ask a question about RSL, email or call (415) 476-4389.  RSL support is available from 9:00 A.M to 1:00 P.M., Monday - Friday.
