THE HUMAN RESEARCH PROTECTION PROGRAM

THE COMMITTEE ON HUMAN RESEARCH (CHR)

CHR MEETING DETAILS

With the addition of the third committee each weekly agenda will include up to 12 initial full committee applications, 25 full committee renewals and a handful of expedited review studies.

A primary reviewer system is in place so that each study is reviewed in depth by two members, rather than all the members, although all members are asked to read the consent forms for all the new studies. A member can expect to be assigned as a primary reviewer member for about eight studies on the agenda and be asked to present about four. Experienced members report spending two to four hours per week reading protocols in preparation for the meeting.
