Dr. Nahid is Director of Clinical Trials Operations for UCSF in the Office of Research, and Professor in Residence in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and UCSF. In his Office of Research capacity, Dr. Nahid is responsible for setting strategic priorities for clinical trial support at UCSF and directing the development of resources and services that the UCSF clinical trial community needs to be successful.  

Dr. Nahid is also a global health researcher and serves as the Director of the UCSF Center for Tuberculosis (TB), which aims to brings expertise across a range of disciplines to solve the problems that have historically undermined global TB elimination effort. He has led NIH- and CDC-funded field studies of TB diagnostics and clinical trials in TB therapeutics, including FDA-regulated studies. Dr. Nahid oversees NIH and Gates Foundation-sponsored TB biomarker discovery and qualification programs, serves as Chair of the Core Science Group for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s TB Trials Consortium and has led and contributed to WHO Task Forces focused on TB clinical trial designs and development of new TB regimens. Dr. Nahid leads and has contributed to the development of U.S. and international practice guidelines for the treatment of TB.
