Research Community: Preparing for COVID-19 Vaccines at UCSF

December 14, 2020

Dear UCSF Research Community,

On Friday, Chancellor Sam Hawgood sent an internal email to UCSF faculty, staff, learners, and trainees about preparing for COVID-19 vaccines at UCSF. UCSF Medical Center and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center both expect a modest supply of vaccine in mid-December and substantially more supply in the following weeks. Vaccination will be handled by each health system separately and will proceed according to groupings by level of risk in accordance with public health priorities established by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). Detailed information about the UCSF approach can be found at the UCSF COVID 19 Vaccine Information Hub.

The Office of Research has been supporting the UCSF Vaccine Steering Committee in identifying researchers who have been included in Phase 1A. Any questions about the UCSF COVID-19 vaccination strategy should be sent to [email protected].

Sincerely,

Lindsey A. Criswell, MD, MPH, DSc
Vice Chancellor of Research
Professor of Medicine and Orofacial Sciences
