TEMPORARY HOLD extended through 1/28: Category 3 on-site clinical research

Dear Clinical Research Community,

I am writing in follow up to my email dated December 29 announcing a temporary hold on Category 3 on-site clinical research visits (see policy here). I greatly appreciate your understanding and compliance with this hold while it is in place. As mentioned previously, the hold is aimed at protecting the health of our research participants and clinical workforce during this unprecedented COVID-19 surge (see the UCSF internal COVID-19 dashboard). Based on the last two weeks of data, we now estimate that cases at UCSF will peak in late January, with hospitalizations peaking shortly thereafter. Therefore, I will be extending the hold on Category 3 on-site clinical research visits for an additional two weeks (through January 28), anticipating a return to full research operations at that time. As previously communicated, the actual end date will depend on the course of the pandemic.

I recognize the impact this hold is having on important research projects, and I am committed to releasing it as soon as possible. I ask for your patience and partnership in this difficult moment so that we all emerge from it as quickly and safely as possible.

Please direct questions to [email protected].

Sincerely,
