The Office of Research is the chief administrative unit and catalyst for advancing research at UCSF. Its mission is to promote research and improve health by providing high-quality service to investigators; fostering new research initiatives; and promoting translational discoveries into public benefit.
The Office also represents the broad research interests of UCSF to the University of California system, and provides leadership, direction, and management of campus-wide research administration, infrastructure and services and oversees the operations of the following units: Office of Sponsored Research; Research Development Office; Office of Associate Vice Chancellor of Clinical Research and CTSI; Office of Clinical Trial Activation; Human Research Protection Program; Laboratory Animal Resource Center; Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee; Environment, Health and Safety; Research Resource Program; Co-Labs; International Research Support Operations; and MLK Building research support operations.
