Announcing the New Office of Research CAO

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Calleen Roper has been appointed Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the UCSF Office of Research, and she will join us on August 24.

Calleen brings extensive experience leading research administration in academic medicine. Throughout her career, she has partnered with researchers and administrative staff to strengthen research operations, improve organizational effectiveness, and build high-performing, service-oriented teams. Most recently, she served as Director for Research for the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she provided strategic leadership for a large, complex research enterprise.

Throughout the search process, Calleen stood out not only for her experience but also for her collaborative leadership style and commitment to building strong partnerships.

As Chief Administrative Officer, Calleen will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Office of Research's administrative functions, partnering with our directors and staff to strengthen business continuity, streamline processes, and enhance the services that support UCSF's research community.

I look forward to working with Calleen as we continue strengthening the systems, services, and partnerships that enable research across our institution.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,
Hal
